AS the World Turns star Kathryn Hays has died at the age of 87.
The soap opera actress passed away on March 25 in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Kathryn was best known for her role as Kim on CBS’ As the World Turns, which she played for 38 years.
Her former ATWT co-star Don Hastings said in a statement, according to : “Our relationship as Bob and Kim was as close as Kathryn and my relationship, except we were not married.
“We were more like brother and sister and we were great friends.
“Our biggest squabble was that she always wanted to rehearse and I wanted to take a nap.
“This is a huge loss to all who knew her.”

Along with her time on the soap, Kathryn worked on a slew of other popular shows, including Star Trek, The Eleventh Hour, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Law & Order.
Prior to beginning her time on ATWT, the late actress’ other big role was on the western drama, The Road West.
She starred as Elizabeth Reynolds for all 29 episodes of the series, from 1966 to 1967.
A few years later, in 1972, Kathryn landed her major role as Kim Sullivan, who would later go on to have few different last names, on As the World Turns.
She worked on close to 2,000 episodes during her time on the series.
After being cast on the soap, she remained as part of the lineup until its series finale in 2010.
The final scene of the show featured Kathryn’s character Kim and her onscreen husband, Don’s character Bob Hughes.

This moment saw Bob finally do as Kim wished and retire after a long medical career working at the hospital.
He was the last one to be seen on the show, leaving his office and saying the words, “Good night.”
