Who was Peter Robbins?
Robbins began his career as a child actor at nine years old and went on to voice the beloved Peanuts character in classics including the 1965 A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s A Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in 1966.
He carried on voicing Charlie Brown until he was 13, but his trademark scream continued to be used for Charlie and other Peanuts characters afterwards.
Tragically, the former child actor suffered from bipolar disorder and had a troubled later life.
In 2015, he was sentenced to five years in jail for making criminal threats against several people.
He also pleaded guilty to sending the media threatening letters offering money to kill San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore and also sending a threatening letter to a property manager of the mobile home park where he lived.
He told KSWB in 2019: “I would recommend to anybody that has bipolar disorder to take it seriously because your life can turn around in the span of a month like it did to me.”
Born Louis Nanasi in 1956, Peter had a famous sister, Ahna Capri.
The actress, who died in a car accident at the age of 66 in 2010, appeared in movies Enter The Dragon and Payday, as well as TV shows Columbo, The Man From U.N.C.L.E and Kojak.
