Kanye West ‘rants incoherently’ about bipolar meds in ‘disturbing’ scene on Netflix doc as he demands final edit of film
KANYE West “ranted incoherently” about bipolar medication in a “disturbing” scene from his Jeen-yuhs Netflix documentary as the star demands he’s given edit approval for the final cut of the film.
The 44-year-old’s new doc premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23.
The three-part Netflix documentary breaks down Kanye’s life and career, while also tackling his mental health and the tragic death of his mother, Donda.
According to a review from , one “disturbing scene” captures Kanye ranting “almost incoherently during a meeting” as he refers to bipolar medication.
Co-director Coodie explained that the scene made him so uncomfortable that he turned off the camera in the middle of the scene.
Coodie directed the film alongside collaborator Chike, while Kanye serves as a producer on the film.
KANYE’S DEMANDS
Just days before the film’s premiere, Kanye asked that final edits be made to the documentary.
While taking to last week, he shared a promotional photo of Jeen-Yuhs with an undated photo of the entertainer.
He captioned the post: “I’m going to say this kindly for the last time. I must get the final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix.
“Open the editing room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image.
“Thank you in advance.”
The Deadline article noted that the version of the documentary they reviewed was labeled “work in progress.”
YEEZUS
A previous trailer of the doc showed Kanye in an “argument” with fellow hip-hop artist Rhymefest.
In the throwback clip, Kanye slammed Rhymefest and said: “God, I feel like he disrespected me.
“He was trying to say I wasn’t a genius yet.”
Rhymefest replied: “Well, who are you to call yourself a genius.”
The doc will also show Kanye’s painful recovery from his 2002 car crash which led to him getting his jaw wired shut.
Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 16th, 2022.
TROUBLED PAST
While his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, 41, is only briefly mentioned in the doc, it’s likely that some of his more highly publicized scandals will be covered.
For example, the Gold Digger rapper previously made headlines with he broke down in tears during a political rally and claimed Kim tried to abort their daughter North.
At the time, The Sun exclusively reported that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum was “embarrassed” and “torn up” about her ex’s bizarre claims at the rally.
NEW ROMANCE
One person that is not mentioned in the doc is Kanye’s new girlfriend Julia Fox, 31.
The new couple met on New Year’s Eve and have been inseparable ever since.
Julia recently spoke about being in the spotlight due to her relationship with the rap star.
During an episode of her podcast, the actress said: “It’s funny cause I’m getting all of this attention, but I really couldn’t care.
“People are like ‘Oh, you’re only in it for the fame, you’re in it for the clout, you’re in it for the money.'”
She continued: “Honey, I’ve dated billionaires my entire adult life, let’s keep it real.”
“Watch my movie, read my book. That is more thrilling to me now than eyes on me. I couldn’t care less.”
Despite the attention surrounding her and the rapper, Julia insisted that she is focused on creating art and “putting things into the world.”
