What was Dick Clark's cause of death?

Dick Clark was born on November 30, 1929, in Mount Vernon, New York.

He was arguably best known for hosting American Bandstand from 1956 to 1989, during which time he started the New Year's Eve tradition.

The special began in 1972 on NBC with Clark hosting coverage live from Times Square. It later moved to ABC in 1974-75 where it has remained since.

In 2005, Ryan Seacrest began cohosting alongside Clark before permanently taking over the hosting duties.

Tragically, Clark died on April 18, 2012, at the age of 82 of a heart attack.

“For more than half a century, Dick Clark brought the best of American music to audiences across the country, creating careers and countless fans for artists on his iconic shows, American Bandstand and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve," Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger said in a statement at the time, via .

"We’re proud that ABC was home to those programs and will always be part of his legacy."

Was Dick Clark married?

Prior to his passing, Clark tied the knot three times.

His first marriage was to Barbara Mallery, which lasted from 1952 to 1961.

After his divorce, he then tied the knot with Loretta Martin in 1962. They later divorced in 1971.

Clark then married actress Kari Clark in 1977, who he was married to up until his death.

The radio personality was also the father of three kids, Richard, Cindy, and Duane.
