AMERICA’S Got Talent Star Skilyr Hicks was found dead at her home in North Carolina on Monday, December 6, 2021, aged 23.
The news was revealed by Hicks’ mother Jodi, as she paid a heartbreaking tribute saying that we will "live on through her music".
Who was Skilyr Hicks?
Skilyr Hicks was a 23-year-old singer and guitarist who appeared on the eighth season of America’s Got Talent.
She began her musical career at the age of seven from her home back in Ohio and used to share her music through 98.3 The Bill.
She performed at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta and opened for artists like Charlie Mars and Lera Lynn.
Her album, Brand New Day, was released in 2013 and is available on iTunes.
What did Skilyr Hicks' mother Jodi say on her death?
It is still yet to be confirmed what her cause of death is.
Hicks' mother told how her daughter had been battling with mental health issues, including depression and substance abuse.
In a statement, Jodi added that Skilyr will "live on through her music" in a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter.
Jodi went on to say that her daughter was loved by her four siblings and had looked to use her music to help people in need.

Hicks first appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2013 aged 14.
She performed in front of judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Howard Stern.
She sang an original song, Brand New Day, to which she explained she taught herself how to play the guitar while having the death of her father.
On the show, she said that her dad's death was "a really difficult time for me" and that music had helped her to "let out all the emotion that was building inside".
Howard said her dad would be "glowing with pride" watching his daughter.
Despite impressing the judges, Skilyr failed to make it to the live shows in New York City.
