Nick Cannon’s son Zen dead at just 5 months after battling brain tumor
NICK Cannon revealed the heartbreaking news his newborn son Zen has died at five months old.
The 41-year-old shared on his talk show that Zen died from a brain tumor over the weekend.
Nick broke down in tears while revealing: “Over the weekend, I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus…brain cancer.
“It’s tough. And I have my therapist here, who’s been helping us through it.”
Nick welcomed his son Zen with model Alyssa Scott on June 23.
The talk show host shared that he got to spend the weekend with his son before he passed.
On Sunday, they took a trip to the ocean, and he watched the sun rise as he held his son Zen for one of the last times.
When the newborn was about two months old, Nick shared they thought he had a sinus problem.
After his head appeared to swell, they learned that fluid was building.
Doctors discovered he had a malignant brain tumor that required surgery immediately.
“We were hopeful, he was playing with his brothers and sisters,” Nick said. “I embraced every moment.”
He praised Zen’s mom Alyssa for being the “strongest woman [he’s] ever seen” through it all.
“I gotta say thank you to my entire family but specifically to Alyssa,” he added, while thanking everyone for coming together during this difficult time."
Nick shared that Zen was “loving and fun,” like all of his other kids, up until Thanksgiving, when he took a turn for the worse.
“The tumor began to grow a lot faster,” he explained, which is why he said he made sure to put a lot of effort into spending a lot of “quality time” with Zen over the weekend.
He closed out his message to viewers, sharing: “I’m feeling it. I’m vulnerable. I’m open. But I’m gonna make it through.
“And this is a special show, dedicated to my beautiful son Zen.”

While mom Alyssa hasn’t yet specifically mentioned the loss of her child, she’s been sharing photos and videos of him on her Instagram Story.
In one clip, she cooed at the newborn and said to him: “Hi, you slept pretty good.
“Did you have lots of dreams?
“What were you dreaming about?”
Another post showed Zen sleeping in bed, next to his older sister – Alyssa’s daughter from previous relationship.
A second video featured Zen in brown overalls, just lying in bed and wiggling around a little.
Alyssa sweetly spoke to her son, saying: “Hi, can you say, ‘Good morning, Daddy’?
“Can you say, ‘I love you.’ Say, ‘I love you so much.”
She told him “Good job” as he made a few sounds.
“And he loves you, too,” Alyssa assured her son in the emotional clip.
She continued: “Can you tell him we’re gonna go on a walk right now?”
Alyssa giggled as her son started to smile for her and the camera.
“Ok, tell him bye bye,” she added. “Say, ‘Bye bye, Daddy.’ Wave bye bye.”
The baby started to wave his little hands and his mom once again told him “good job” before the video ended.
Alyssa shared three photos to announce the baby's birth a few months ago, two of which showed her holding the newborn.
She captioned it: "I will love you for eternity - 6•23•21."
Zen was Nick's seventh child.
