Why was Ari Lennox arrested in Amsterdam?

SOULFUL artist Ari Lennox has hit out at a Dutch airline after accusing staff of racial profiling.

The allegations came as she was detained by authorities at an Amsterdam airport on Monday, November 29, 2021, following a incident involving another woman.

Who is Ari Lennox?

Lennox, whose real name is Courtney Shanade Salter, is an American R&B singer.

She was born in Washington DC.

Lennox was the first female artist to be signed to rapper J. Cole's record label, Dreamville Records.

In 2016, she released her first EP, Pho, on the label, just as she began gaining recognition.

Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released in 2019.

Why was Ari Lennox arrested in Amsterdam?

On Monday, November 29, 2021, the BMO singer took to Twitter to share her account of what led to her arrest.

Upon arriving to the Netherlands' capital, Lennox, 30, tweeted: "Hi Amsterdam," to her 700k+ Twitter followers.

An hour later, she wrote: "F*** Amsterdam security. They hate black people."

Although she didn't elaborate at the time, fans knew something had happen.

Moments later she continued: "I just want to go home. I'll never leave my house again."

The singer then informed her followers that she was being arrested by authorities.

She tweeted: "They're arresting me.

"I'm back arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me."

Lennox has not tweeted anything since.

What has Amsterdam authorities said about the arrest?

Authorities claim that Lennox had caused a public disorder after she accused a staff member with KLM, a Netherlands-based airline, of racially profiling her.

The Dutch police stated that the singer displayed belligerent behavior during her exchange with an airline official and was reportedly publicly intoxicated.

Spokesman Robert van Kapel : "Our unit found a woman full of emotions that wouldn't calm down.

"That's why she had to be taken into custody,".

As of Tuesday, November 20, 2021, authorities are conducting an investigation regarding alleged threats Lennox made during the encounter.

It is unclear how long she will remain in custody.
