Britney’s dad Jamie files to end conservatorship NOW and will not ask for further cash from star’s $60M fortune
BRITNEY Spears’ dad Jamie wants his daughter’s conservatorship ended immediately and “will not seek future compensation,” according to new court documents.
Less than two weeks before the pop star’s court hearing that is expected to terminate the conservatorship entirely after 13 years, Jamie Spears has filed docs claiming he supports a “full stop.”
Court documents first obtained by state: ”Jamie unconditionally loves and supports his daughter.
“Full stop. As he has done for her entire life, Jamie will do everything he can to protect and care for her.
“For the last 13 years, that included serving as her Conservator. Now, it means ending her Conservatorship."
The site claimed that the legal papers state that Jamie, 69, is "not seeking any further compensation" or "a release for what went down during the conservatorship."
They also alleged that the patriarch is "willing to be fully transparent in handing over all of his files on the conservatorship in order to officially close the book on this chapter."
"He does insist the way in which he's administered Britney's estate has always been in her best interest," the outlet added, while claiming Jamie is "fully on board with getting his daughter out of the legal apparatus now."
Most read in The Sun
Earlier today, The Sun obtained court documents which showed Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, of accusing Jamie of "avoiding" being deposed under oath to "avoid" further investigation as his daughter's conservator.
The high-power attorney said in the legal papers: "He wants to avoid being deposed under oath.
"He wants to avoid responding to extensive discovery. He wants to avoid his obligation as a fiduciary, once he is suspended, to turn over his files to not a permanent conservator of the estate, but a temporary, short-term conservator of the estate."
SAYING GOODBYE
Last week, The Sun exclusively revealed that Jamie parted ways with his longtime legal team shortly after the judge ruled he be suspended as Britney's conservator in September.
The family patriarch is no longer represented by Vivian Lee Thoreen - who just weeks before, passionately pleaded but failed to prevent Jamie's removal as conservator for the pop star.
The Sun obtained documents which were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court to inform all parties that Jamie has hired new legal counsel.
He brought in a new powerhouse team after letting go of his current attorney, Vivian, and her firm, Holland & Knight, from the case, court papers show.
Alex Weingarten from Los Angeles law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher will be taking over legal duties for Jamie.
An insider told The Sun it was a "mutual decision" but "Jamie pulled the final plug."
TERMINATED RELATIONSHIP
However, reported it was Vivian's law firm's decision to terminate their relationship.
While Alex did not return request for comment, Vivian told The Sun: "We are proud of our work on behalf of Jamie Spears and stand by his and our actions. We continue to have a good relationship, and are pleased that we have been able to help Jamie find new counsel.
"I am confident that Jamie’s new counsel will continue to prove that he has always acted in Britney’s best interests every step of the way.”
Vivian was present at the conception of the conservatorship back in 2008, at the time calling Britney "incompetent," according to court documents.
However, she briefly left Jamie's team and during her hiatus, appeared in the Hulu documentary, Framing Britney Spears, which came out earlier this year.
She went on to rejoin the team in 2020 and has advocated on Jamie's behalf in the highly-publicized court hearings since.
Jamie's shocking move came just a couple weeks after Judge Brenda Penny agreed he should be suspended from the conservatorship immediately.
