American Film Institute Conservatory professor Bill Dill spoke to the about Hutchins’ impact on movies, saying: “She had an interesting background, and I think that made for a unique perspective on the world.
“She brought a wealth of experience to the movie-making process.”
Before working on Rust, Hutchins’ credits included the crime drama Blindfire and the horror film Darlin, directed by Pollyanna McIntosh.
McIntosh posted a tribute to Hutchins on Instagram saying that she was “the most talented, in the trenches, committed wonderful artist and team mate.”

Actor Alec Baldwin was filming a scene on the set of Rust that required him to fire a gun that was supposed to be loaded with blanks.
However, tragedy struck when the gun discharged either shrapnel or a bullet, which hit two people on set including Hutchins, who was the director of photography.
According to the Associated Press, Baldwin was handed the gun by his assistant director who told him it was safe to use.
However, the gun was loaded with a live round according to the warrant from the ongoing police investigation.
Shortly after the incident took place, Halyna was airlifted to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Joel Souza, who was also shot, was taken to hospital.
Authorities confirmed that no charges have been filed but the investigation remains ongoing as witnesses are being questioned.
On February 15, 2022, it was announced that Halyna Hutchins' family is suing Alec Baldwin over the "reckless" shooting death on the set of Rust.
The suit claims that Baldwin, along with the other defendants, "failed to perform industry-standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules while using real guns to produce the movie Rust, with fatal consequences."
What did Alec Baldwin say about the death of Halyna Hutchins?
Baldwin released a statement via Twitter on the morning of Friday, October 22, 2021, addressing the accident on set.
"1- There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and
"2- I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."
Around the same time that morning, Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, left their New York City home with their children and pets.

It is revealed that Rust assistant director, Dave Halls, handed Baldwin the gun while telling him it was a "cold gun," meaning it should have been safe to use.
