Bachelor Clayton Echard contestant Salley Carson ‘called off $60K wedding due to fiancé’s CHEATING & not for show fame’

BACHELOR Clayton Echard contestant Salley Carson “called off her $60K wedding” just before joining the show due to her fiancé’s cheating, a source told The Sun before tonight's season premiere.

The blonde beauty was on the latest season of the ABC franchise but raised eyebrows when eagle-eyed fans noticed on social media that she was engaged just before filming began.

Salley, 26, was set to tie-the-knot with her neurosurgeon fiancé, and even celebrated her bachelorette party in late August - just weeks before the South Carolina native would leave to film the show in Los Angeles.

However, a source exclusively told The Sun that by that point, the couple were “already having problems” but did not want to cancel a trip that cost thousands of dollars as they were not yet “fully broken up.”

The insider said that in late August, the wedding was officially called off and that it was “Salley who ended things.”

“It was not a mutual decision, Salley ended it. There was infidelity on his part, he was unfaithful and that’s when things ended for good,” they alleged.

The Sun has confirmed with Salley’s family that the fiancé’s cheating played a factor in their breakup.

According to the source, the Southern Belle would “never” call off a wedding for no reason as that would be “insane.”

“She’s not the kind of person to cancel a $60,000 wedding that her dad paid for to go on a show.

“She was so ready for a husband, a family and all of that. She was heartbroken,” they revealed.

The informant also claimed that after her breakup, a friend of Salley nominated her to go on Clayton’s season of The Bachelor and producers called her just four days later.

As for why she decided to go on the show when she was freshly single, the insider said: “In the moment, she thought she was doing something where she can go into it with an open heart and heal.

“She thought it would good for her but it was probably too soon. It’s so hard. She still has a lot of feelings for him, you know, she was supposed to marry him.

“Her family was skeptical at first but then they wanted her to go because it got her out of a situation she needed to get out of.

“Her friends and family knew about the show from the second Bachelor producers called. His mom even knew about it and was supportive of it.”

Salley's ex fiancé did not return The Sun’s multiple requests for comment.

'LAST MINUTE DECISION'

The show is in the early stages of filming, and is expected to premiere in January 2022.

Last month, The Sun revealed that Clayton was the next Bachelor as producers sought a “wholesome Midwestern gentleman” following the show’s many recent scandals.

Missouri native Clayton, 28, who is from the tiny town of Eureka, was chosen as a “last minute” decision, a source close to production told The Sun.

“It’s a big gamble with Clayton because viewers don’t even know him yet but he’s a midwestern gentleman that the audience will love,” the insider gushed.

They continued: “He’s very naive and pure to the whole TV thing, he’s not an aspiring influencer like a lot of these people.

“He will charm the audience at a time the show desperately needs a more wholesome lead.”
