The restaurant inspired by Eminem's song made an appearance during the 2024 NFL playoffs

RAP legend Eminem stunned fans when he announced he was opening a restaurant called Mom’s Spaghetti in Detroit, Michigan.

The name of the restaurant is a nod to the opening lyrics from one of the rapper's most famous songs, Lose Yourself, from the 2002 blockbuster, 8 Mile.

What is on the menu at Eminem's Mom's Spaghetti restaurant?

The menu at Eminem’s restaurant, Mom’s Spaghetti, serves four items: spaghetti, spaghetti with meatballs, spaghetti with vegan meatballs, and a spaghetti sandwich.

Soda and water are also available at the eatery.

The restaurant's also sells jars of tomato sauce for order. That option became available in October 2023.

Fans were seen waiting outside the downtown Detroit restaurant hours before its opening on September 29, 2021.

Those who waited in line got to meet the rapper and have their food handed to them by him.

The concept for the restaurant came about as a result of a partnership between Eminem's team and a local restaurant group.

Curt Catallo, co-owner of Union Joints Restaurant Group spoke about the restaurant, said: “We're proud of the fact that we created a scratch sauce that tastes like it's straight from the jar, and wok-firing the noodles gives it that leftover pasta snap.

"The walk-up window and small diner-like spot for people to eat add to the feeling that this is a homegrown, DIY experience."

The eatery made a brief appearance in the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams NFL game that aired on January 14, 2024.

What did fans say about Eminem’s restaurant?

Although Eminem was widely receiving high praise for the pasta dishes, the price left a bad taste in the mouths of some frugal fans.

Posting to X, one wrote: "$12. For spaghetti in Detroit? Goddam. It better be life-changing."

Another wrote: "$12 for meatballs, are they autographed? No offense Marshall but thanks to Biden no one has $12 to spend on meatballs."

A third said: “Look at the prices they seem shady as s*** slim f*** chance i would go there.”

Despite the price complaints, Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager, said in a statement that the response from fans has been "overwhelmingly positive," calling the previous pop-ups "really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom's Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long."

Who is Eminem’s mother, Debbie Nelson?
