Vanity Fair first reported he was seen saying goodbye to his ex and their two young children who dropped him off at the for treatment on May 31.
"He has so much trauma that he cannot deal with stillness, face himself, or sit alone with his s**t," a source told the outlet.
Sources now tell The Sun a rumored online sighting in West Hollywood recently was incorrect, as he extended his rehab stay, while Lisa is waiting for his return.
One insider said: "They are still together, she has been around the island recently and I believe she's planning to see him when he leaves rehab, she's been a big support for him.
"They have a strong bond and a lot of mutual friends, she's glad he's getting the help he urgently needs for the sake of his children and his future.

"Nobody knows yet what is going to happen with the police investigation, or what this means for his career, but he'd hate to think he'd been blacklisted in Hollywood.
"His family are also standing by him and he still has friends on the island who are in touch."
A second insider added that and "thriving" in rehab, but is looking forward to seeing more of his children in the coming months.
The Sun has reached out to Armie's lawyer and Lisa for comment.
ARMIE'S NEW GAL
His new girlfriend hails from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, but currently resides in West Bay, Cayman Islands, Page Six previously reported.
The actor, 35, has liked a number of Lisa's Instagram posts dating back to 2019, and they are believed to have known each other for some time.
Before rehab, he had been in the Cayman Islands since December, when he flew out to be reunited with his kids after months apart due to the pandemic and visa issues.
ARMIE'S CHAOS
A month later he was hit by accusations of abuse by a number of ex-girlfriends, and disturbing messages were leaked on social media.
He allegedly talked about drinking a woman's blood, described scenes of sexual control, and referenced cannibalism and rape fantasies.
One message showed he reportedly said he was "100% a cannibal" and told a woman "I want to eat you."
The actor is after a former lover, only identified as Effie, claimed he "mentally, emotionally and sexually" abused her during their four-year relationship.
was previously introduced during a press conference by Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred in March, as she alleged she was violently raped in 2017, during which the actor slammed her head against a wall.
She also alleged he whipped her feet with a crop so they would hurt for days afterwards.
The Sun understands Effie is yet to file any civil claim amid the ongoing police investigation.
'PATENTLY UNTRUE'
Armie's attorney previously released a statement saying: "These assertions about Mr. Hammer are patently untrue. Any interactions with this person, or any partner of his, were completely consensual in that they were fully discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory."
The Call Me By Your Name star split from his wife Elizabeth last year after a decade of marriage and she has since spoken out after the allegations to say she was "shocked, heartbroken, and devastated."
