Who is Biz Markie's wife, Tara Hall?

Biz Markie and Tara Hall tied the knot in a private ceremony on October 18, 2018, in Maryland.

As per her Instagram bio, Hall is the executive director of Biz Markie’s Just A Friend Foundation, as well as the executive producer of the Showtime documentary, All Up In The Biz.

On August 12, 2023, she took to social media to pay tribute to her late husband and the premiere of the documentary which explores the influence he had on rap.

"Biz, I just stopped by to let you know the world is learning so much more about the incredible MAN you were and now the spirit you are that will live FOREVER!!!!!" she . "Rest King- Love, Tara."

What was Biz Markie's cause of death?

Biz Markie's passing on July 16, 2021, came after it was revealed he was in a hospice with significant brain damage following a stroke earlier in the month.

The rapper had struggled with health issues related to a decade-long battle with Type 2 diabetes and ultimately died in a Baltimore hospital.

His wife reportedly held his hand as he took his last breath.

A rep for Markie told at the time: "We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support that we have received during this difficult time.

"Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years.

"He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter."

Who was Biz Markie?

Markie - whose real name is Marcel Theo Hall - was an American rapper best known for his song, Just A Friend.

He adopted his alias after he stepped onto the scene in 1985, at age fourteen, as the beat box backup for Roxanne Shanté of the “Juice Crew.”

His mother used to call him 'Biz' because he was such a busybody, while 'Markie' is short for Marcel which was his neighborhood nickname.

He starred in the 2002 movie Men In Black II, featuring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
