PREVIOUSLY, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson contemplated a potential run for US President.

The Fast and Furious alum has admitted that he gave the idea some thought, but has opted not to pursue a campaign for the sake of his daughters.

Is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson a Democrat or Republican?

Despite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's support of the Republican Party, he has since become an Independent.

In 2000, he gave a speech at that year's Republican National Convention.

The Black Adam actor also appeared at that year's Democratic National Convention.

During the 2020 US Presidential Election, he endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' candidacy.

"As a political independent and centrist for many years, I've voted for Democrats in the past as well as Republicans," The Rock told his social media followers.

“In this critical election, I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country and as my first ever [public] presidential endorsement, I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States."

He also commented: “I've never publicly endorsed a presidential candidate or vice-presidential candidate in my life.

"You guys are both experienced to lead, you've done great things.

"Joe, you've had such an incredible career, and you've led, in my opinion, with such great compassion, and heart, and drive but also soul."

Speaking to Harris, Johnson said: "You have been an attorney, a district attorney, a state attorney, a US senator—smart, tough. 

"I've seen you in those hearings, and in my opinion, you're a certified bada**."

Why is Dwayne Johnson not running for office?

Following his decision not to run for office, Johnson explained on : "My goal has never been to be in politics.

"Matter of fact, there's a lot of things about politics that I hate."

The former WWE wrestler further elaborated to : "It's off the table. Yes, it is off the table.

"I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy.

"But then I really had to double down on this idea, and this is the truth...I’ve got little ones.

"I have three daughters and that's the most important thing to me, is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters' lives.

"I know what it’s like to be in an occupation that took me away."

He added: "Cause I know what it was like to be on the road and being so busy that I was absent for a lot of years when my first daughter's growing up in this critical age and this critical time in her life."
