Ferreira is best known for her role as Kat Hernandez in the HBO series, Euphoria.
As a teen, Ferreira modeled for American Apparel, where she started to preach body positivity and self-love.
Ferreira also featured in a campaign for lingerie brand Aerie, which was completely unretouched. The video was one of the first of its kind and quickly went viral.
Barbie told : "When my first modeling pictures came out, it was totally new to see someone who was a bigger girl in something that wasn't necessarily a plus-size brand."
Her positive messages earned her a place on Time’s Most Influential Teens of 2016 list.
Barbie is currently set to premiere in Faces of Death remake alongside Stranger Things' actor, Dacre Montgomery.
Is Barbie Ferreira leaving Euphoria?
Ferreira landed a role in the Drake-produced HBO series, Euphoria, gaining the love from fans of the now-popular show.
However, on August 24, 2022, Ferreira took to Instagram to reveal her departure from Euphoria.
Barbie said: "So, for me, when people ask me about season two, it's usually they come at me with, like, I was some sort of victim to season two and I'm always like, 'No, it's okay, promise. It's good,' I actually did not walk off set.
"I did sprain my ankle once and had to go get an X-ray. Maybe that's what they mean?"
Ferreira explained the cast change was a mutual decision between Barbie and showrunner, Sam Levinson, as there wasn't a foreseeable future for the character.
The actress went on to say: "I don't think there was a place for her to go. I think there were places she could have gone. I just don't think it would have fit into the show.
"I don't know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don't want to play that, and I think they didn't want that either.
"Sam writes for, like, things that he relates to. I don't think he relates to Kat. I like Kat, so I get to go on my own path."
Who is Barbie Ferreira dating?
Ferreira has been dating musician Elle Puckett since 2019.
The couple went on a vacation to Fiji together in December 2019.
