Mollie, 36, is taking on the huge challenge to raise cash for and is aiming to get to Hull, her late dad Stephen’s hometown, by the end of the week.

In an exclusive chat as she finished the first 20km stretch, Mollie opened up about how Stuart, 37, had been keeping her spirits up ahead of the mammoth challenge.

Mollie said: “I have been so incredibly nervous in the days leading up to it, I’ve had a bit of a foggy head.

“My partner Stuart was like, ‘It’s cool, it’s pre match nerves’.

“He has been really encouraging and really supportive.”

Stuart was at the start line at Broadcasting House in London to wave off Mollie, along with their baby daughter Arabella.

Mollie’s mum’s Susan and her sister were also there to wave her off.

Giving an update on her progress, Mollie added: “We started the challenge which feels crazy, we are 20k in now.

“If you had told me six weeks ago we would be casually saying we’re 20k in now, I would never have believed you.

“Even this bit feels like an accomplishment.

“I had the most incredible and emotional send off. I had my daughter Arabella there, I had my partner Stuart and my mum and my sister and it was exactly what I needed for that boost of energy.

“That boost of warmth to push me through”

Saturdays singer Mollie was also joined at the start line by her fellow Radio 1 DJ’s Greg James, Matt Edmondson and Rickie, Melvin and Charlie.

The emotional moment she got going played out live on Greg’s Breakfast Show, with fans sending her supportive messages.

Mollie only cycled on a road for the first time six weeks ago and is pushing herself to the limit to complete the challenge to raise money for Comic Relief.

She added: “It’s been good to get stuck in and get to our first pit stop.

“We have tackled our first hill as well which was quite intimidating but even that sense of achievement of making it to the top of that first hill felt like, you’ve done one so you can tackle more of them.
