SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK ‘N’ SCOLD

Struggling addict Pete Doherty reveals that Keith Richards threw him in a bin and gave him drug advice

The Libertines singer says rock god Keith gave him proper scolding following a heroin binge

WHEN KEITH RICHARDS is dishing out the drug advice, you know there’s a problem.

But struggling addict PETE DOHERTY has revealed how the ROLLING STONES legend was forced to resort to far more drastic measures to knock sense into him.

After finding Pete passed out from a heroin drugs binge, Keith – who once snorted his dad’s ashes – gave him a huge scolding and threw him in a dressing room bin.

Revealing the guitarist’s harsh measures for the first time, Pete said: “Keith said, ‘What you doin’? Going in the veins? We only skin-popped in the Sixties’.

“They had different coloured dressing rooms. Uncle RONNIE WOOD – his was called The Detox Room, all white and he dumped me in there, in the bins, with my legs in the air, on my back, like a dead cow.

“I heard Ronnie’s voice in the midst of my dementia going, ‘Have him removed. He’s a liability – and he doesn’t get the blues.”

Pete had been getting off his rocker while accompanying close pal AMY WINEHOUSE at the Isle of White festival in 2007, where she performed with the Stones on their 1974 cover of THE TEMPTATIONS classic Ain’t Too Proud To Beg.

And it seemed Keef’s hard-handed approach wasn’t all in vain.

Pete told Q Magazine: “Now I get the blues. Billy Hughes, Mississippi John Hurt and ‘your man’ - the one who sings, ‘the doctor says I can’t live long. But when I am dead, I be a long time gone.”

Keith, who recently opened up about his anger at his rock star pals including DAVID BOWIE all dying before him, revealed the extent of his drugs problems when he admitted to once mixing his dad’s ashes up with cocaine.

He said: “I opened my dad’s ashes, and some of them blew out over the table. I looked at them and what do I do? Do I desecrate them with a dustbin and broom? So I wet my finger and I shoved a bit of me dad up my f***ing hooter. “I’m sure he’s still blessing me. The rest I put around an oak tree.”

But the former veteran of tequila breakfasts and drug marathons isn’t the only
rock star who has helped keep Pete on the straight and narrow.

Pete - who was consuming 3.5 grams of heroin a day before seeking rehab in Thailand last year – told how STING has also partly-inspired his heroin-free life as he didn’t want the former POLICE star to pull him from re-opening the Bataclan in September following the attacks which killed 89.

Pete, who has lived in Paris since 2009, said: “I imagined he’d be motivated by thinking, ‘We can’t let some junkie b***ard re-open the Bataclan – I’m going to do it.’

“I wanted to do it for this show - for them.”

He’s come a long way.
