THATCH FOR GOOD

I’m getting a wig glued to my head after hair transplant failed, says Robbie Williams

IT is The Greatest Toupee for Robbie Williams – who has revealed he is going to wear a wig on tour after going bald.

The former Take That star made the decision after a hair transplant and pricey follicle growth injections failed to fluff up his thatch.

Robbie, 48, said: “I’m thinking of getting a hair piece.

“There are these great wigs that you can get now, you have to shave all your hair off and then you have it placed on with glue and it sticks on for a couple of weeks.

“I might actually do it just for touring.”

When asked about the state of his current barnet, Robbie said on Australian radio: “My hair is sort of mullet-y now.

“When I’m on stage and I’m giving it the big-gun, I’m looking at them like I still think I’m 27.

“And then I turn behind me and see a 40 foot version of me with three necks and there’s a light shining on the top of my head that makes it look like a baby’s a**e I start to get slightly neurotic about declining hair.”

In January Robbie – who has four kids with his Loose Women star wife Ayda Field – admitted he’d been forking out thousands of pounds for specialist hair growth jabs.

The process failed however, leaving Robbie with no option to go rug shopping.

Robbie has previously attempted to save his once luscious locks.

In 2013 he underwent a hair transplant but after noticing it thinning seven years later, he opted to go back under the knife.

A consultation in 2020 however revealed that Rob’s hair was too thin to have another procedure.

Robbie revealed last month he was hoping to hit the road again by the end of this year.

He was forced to cut short his extended residency in Las Vegas’ Encore Theater back in 2020 because of the pandemic.

He said: “Hopefully I’m going to go on tour at the end of this year.

“But you see how this year has gone.

“I think every summer we’re going to think it’s over and then every winter it’s going to come back.

“Every time that I’ve had a guess that this is going to be over I’ve been completely wrong.

“When this started it was like the end of January or February two years ago and I was like, ‘This is going to be over in June.’ Now we are two Christmases into it and it’s still going strong. It’s terrifying.

“It’s terrifying for many, many reasons but personally and selfishly I haven’t been able to gig, I haven’t been able to do a tour.”
