Supermarket Sweep viewers left seething by ‘careless’ spelling mistake on Rylan’s shopping list
SUPERMARKET Sweep fell prey to an unfortunate spelling blunder in its latest episode – and fans were having none of it.
The grocery-based game show was originally fronted by the late Dale Winton, but has made an epic ITV2 comeback this month with Rylan Clark-Neal at the helm.
However, fans were left distracted for all the wrong reasons as he rattled off his shopping list to contestants.
Rylan requested a green smoothie, a reusable bottle and some deodorant.
Unfortunately the latter was incorrectly spelled ‘deoderant,’ raising eyebrows all over social media.
“I know Supermarket Sweep isn’t Only Connect, but they could have at least checked the spelling of deodorant,” one Twitter user snapped.
“They spelled deodorant wrong, *tuts at the telly*,” a second scolded.
A third perplexed viewer questioned: “Did Supermarket Sweep just spell deodorant, deoderant, not that I watch these things?”
Meanwhile a fourth simply quipped: “Spot the spelling mistake (yes I am incredibly sad).”
The furore comes after fans of the show were left pulling their hair out as two contestants failed to win anything earlier this week.
Aside from struggling to navigate the aisles, even when items were literally right in front of their eyes, Abbey and Rowan didn’t seem to understand the role of tactics on the show.
Elsewhere, viewers initially kicked off about food waste on the show, as one contestant threw piles of fresh produce onto the floor before trampling on them.
Next they bemoaned the show’s scheduling, claiming it should’ve stuck to the original 30-minute time frame compared to the current hour.
They also insisted the show didn’t need to be on every single night and would be best suited to as weekly slot.
Finally, a new wave of whinging kicked off as viewers claimed there was a lack of age diversity among the contestants, as many of them were under the age of 30.
