BAD news for whoever wins Star Baker in week four of Great British Bake Off as it looks like they are doomed to fail thanks to this newly discovered TV curse.

Since the beginning of the competition and across ten series, no competitor who has won Star Baker in week four has gone on to win the whole thing.

A massive 66.6% of those winning the week four accolade ended up being the runner up in the past shows.

This has been spotted by the trends analysts at , who point out a few interesting quirks with this new curse.

Those who win episodes two and five have won the show three times (33%), including last year's winner Rahul Mandal who won in the second week.

Star Baker in eight or nine have won twice, whereas the winners of one, three, six and seven have won just once.

A spokesperson for Bookmakers.TC said: "Forget the Strictly Curse - according to our research, we've now got our very own Great British hoodoo as our stats reveal the fate that awaits this week's Star Baker.

"Our message to the contestants is clear - they should scrape through this week and keep their masterpiece up their sleeve for week five."

They also slashed their odds for Michael to win the show form 10/1 to 5/2 after he won the week three Star Baker prize - and received the Hollywood handshake.

Steph and Alice trail behind in their odds with 8/1 and 3/1.

There's been a different Star Baker every week so far, with Michelle winning first place during cake week.

Alice then dominated biscuit week - a round that ended in devastation across the country as adorable fan-favourite Jamie was knocked out of the competition.

However, this week is dangerous and controversial for the contestants with the first ever dairy week.

This will be extra tricky for the bakers, as they are faced off against a technical task that dates back to Henry VIII and a showstopper that's usually found at Indian weddings.
