CORONATION Street’s Alison King has confirmed her engagement and revealed her fiance's identity for the first time.
The 46-year-old, who plays Carla Connor, is set to marry David Stuckey after he popped the question on a romantic sunset cruise over the summer.
The Sun On Sunday revealed they planned to marry last month but Alison has never publicly discussed her man before.
Showing off a platinum and diamond ring the IT salesman designed himself, Alison told : “It was just a few days after our one-year anniversary. I had an inkling he was going to pop the question because he kept putting something on my finger and going: ‘Right, close your eyes and forget this ever happened!’
“We’d also discussed marriage, too. I think we both went from: ‘No, we don’t ever need to get married,’ to: ‘Oh, we really want to get married!’.”
The couple were on holiday in Portugal with friends when David booked a romantic sunset cruise, which nearly got cancelled because of the bad weather.
Alison thought he might be planning to pop the question so brought along a Rolex she had got him as an engagement present.
Explaining what happened when David got down on one knee, the actress said: “I said: ‘Yes please,’ and then I gave him the watch! It was perfect, even though it didn’t go to plan!”
The couple have already chosen a venue to say “I Do” and they plan for it to be “quite relaxed” and a “nice party”.
David and Alison met in March 2018 when their personal trainer set them up.
They fell head over heels and it wasn’t long until David moved in with Alison and her daughter Daisy Mae Huckett, from a previous relationship.
From 2007 to 2012, Alison dated Coronation Street sound technician Adam Huckett.
