Peaky Blinders fans gobsmacked that Linda is ALIVE but wish she hadn’t survived as Ben Younger is killed

PEAKY Blinders fans were left gobsmacked this evening when they discovered Linda Shelby had survived being shot by Polly Gray - but were devastated as Ben Younger was killed.

In the opening scenes of tonight’s episode Tommy (Cillian Murphy) was seen removing the bullet from Linda’s arm as she screamed in pain and Arthur wept hysterically.

Viewers had been convinced she was dead after last week’s episode and were somewhat disappointed that the character  played by Kate Phillips hadn’t been killed off.

One person tweeted: “Ugh thought this idiot was dead, #PeakyBlinders.”

A second added: “Ugh ive never been so disappointed to see a character still alive #peakyblinders.”

While a third wrote: “Wtf she’s not dead #PeakyBlinders.”

Elsewhere Ben Younger (Kingsley Ben-Adir) ended up getting killed after an explosion went off in his car.

Those watching at home hadn't expected him to to die and took to Twitter to lament the loss of the Colonel, who had been giving Tommy information about communist activity in Birmingham.

Last week Polly stepped in to save Arthur (Paul Anderson) after Linda arrived at Tommy's house ready to kill him.

Linda was upset that her estranged husband had slashed the face of the new man in her life, and told him he was now "as ugly on the outside as you are on the inside."

She then whipped a gun from behind her back, with Arthur looking shocked as her car headlights beamed into his eyes.

As the hardman braced himself for what was to come, a shot rang out - and it was Linda who fell to the floor.

With Tommy having raced outside to see what was going on, he and Arthur turned to see Polly with a gun pointed at Linda.

Ben is the fifth death of the series after Bonnie Gold was crucified by the Billy Boys.

His father Aberama then got his revenge last week by pouring boiling hot tar into a Billy Boy gang member's mouth.
