JAMES Bond actor George Lazenby has done an unexpected U-turn and now believes the super spy will be played by a woman.
Another ex-007, Pierce Brosnan, created international headlines last week – and felt the ire of Piers Morgan – for saying it would be “exhilarating” and “exciting” to see a female Bond.
Aussie George previously said the concept “wouldn’t work” but when recently asked about the possibility, he said: “That is a tough question.
“She would have to be seductive and she would have to not be afraid of getting information in any way she could.
“A female James Bond? It is becoming that way in life – the way that women are starting to take over the world.
“But it is not a bad thing. It is just that it is different.”
Talking about the ease of finding roles in the past, the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service star added: “I was raring to go in the Sixties and Seventies and I had to hide out sometimes.
“Nowadays, it is the other way round. You poor guys, you should have been back in the Sixties.
"That is just society, the way it turns around. You know, you had the Victorian era, and then the hippy era.
“How can you compare? They were totally different. You have to just go with the flow.
“Now if she was a spy, I would just tell her not to get caught.”
Earlier this year, it was revealed British actress Lashana Lynch has been cast as 007 in the new movie, No Time To Die, but she will just be taking over the spy’s code name, not playing James Bond herself.
The move was no doubt influenced by Fleabag writer and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was brought on to the project by Daniel Craig and the franchise’s head honcho Barbara Broccoli.

Daniel himself stated at the film’s launch in Jamaica in April that his successor could be female, as long as it is played by “the right person for the job”.
He said: “I think that’s what it should be. I mean, I think that everybody should be considered.”
GMB host Piers is running out of Bonds to back his argument.
