Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne considers suicide after wife Sinead’s tragic death
CORONATION Street's Daniel Osbourne considers suicide after wife Sinead's tragic death.
The character - played by Rob Mallard in the ITV soap - was left devastated during Wednesday's episode when Sinead found out her cancer had returned and it was terminal.
Even worse, the young mum - played by Katie McGlynn - was informed she only had around four months left to live.
In tragic spoiler pictures, a heartbroken Daniel can be seen hitting the bottle hard as he struggles to deal with his grief following his wife's death.
In scenes which will air after Sinead passes away, Daniel will down a bottle of whiskey as he hits the self-destruct button once again.
As he staggers towards the edge of the canal, he is clearly struggling to figure out how he can carry on without Sinead and raise their baby boy Bertie by himself.
He is then seen slumped against some beer kegs before looking at a child's dummy then passing out.
In the second episode of Wednesday's double bill, the couple - who had only tied the knot the day before - were told the horrific news that Sinead's cancer had returned and spread.
Sinead had found a lump on her neck on her wedding day, and the next day, the doctor confirmed their worst nightmare that it was terminal.
Viewers were left in tears at the emotional scenes where the couple tried to process the news.
As the enormity of the situation started to sink in, Sinead began to blame herself saying she wouldn’t be dying if she’d had chemo in the first place.
But Daniel told her that if she did, they wouldn’t have their baby son, Bertie.
Those watching at home struggled with the scenes and took to Twitter to discuss it. They also praised Katie McGlynn and Rob Mallard's impressive acting skills.
