Peaky Blinders – Four burning questions from episode 5 including who is Tommy Shelby’s friend Barney Thompson?
PEAKY Blinders’ penultimate episode saw the tragic death of a beloved character and the rise of a radical party.
But with another thrilling show came a catalogue of questions. Here are some of the ones we are dying to know the answer to.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from episode five of Peaky Blinders season five.
1. Who will Oswald Mosley hire to control the south?
After an emotive speech at Tommy Shelby’s (played by Cillian Murphy) home, Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), quickly began to receive support for his new party – British Union of Fascist.
In preparation for his big move in politics, Oswald told the father-of-two he would be appointing people to control different areas within the UK.
Jimmy McCarvern () will be in charge of the north, controlling rallies and breaking up demonstrations.
Meanwhile, Tommy will oversee the midlands, with the help of the Peaky Blinders and his allies.
However, Oswald was undecided on who would control the south for him, as he looks to be more powerful than the king.
Turning to Tommy, he smirked: “When we succeed even the King will not be above us.”
Later, Billy Boy’s Jimmy hinted Oswald will call on the Italians to mind the south for him, however, nothing has been confirmed yet.
But what do we really know about the new character?
2. Will Linda Shelby return to kill her husband Arthur?
Linda Shelby (Kate Phillips) was furious when she discovered her estranged husband had gouged out the eyes of her male friend from the Quakers.
With fury in her heart, she confronted the Peaky Blinder during a ballet reception at Tommy’s house for his wife Lizzie (Natasha O’Keeffe).
Pointing a gun at Arthur, Linda intended to shoot dead her spouse but instead she received a bullet from Polly Gray (Helen McCrory).
Fortunately, the shot was not fatal and the mother-of-one only suffered a wound to her upper arm.
As she recovered, Arthur begged her to run away with him but she chose to leave without him after admitting she was happy she had not killed him, as living would be worse punishment for him.
Linda has left the family before and reappeared, therefore there is every possibility she will return again.
However, it is unlikely she will murder Arthur, as she sees death as an easy way out of things for him.
3. Who is Barney Thompson?
During the fifth instalment of Peaky Blinders season five, Tommy went to visit a friend at an "asylum insane" facility.
At the institution viewers were introduced to a man called Barney Thompson, who had history with the Labour politician.
Barney fought with Tommy and Arthur at the Black Water and referred to the former as Sergeant when they first spoke.
According to Tommy, he was one of the best snipers in the army and he would break him out, so he could come and work for him.
It was later revealed he wants Barney to assassinate Oswald so he can be rid of him and resume war with the Billy Boys.
4. Will Ada Shelby keep her baby?
Ada was delivered the devastating news that Ben Younger (Kingsley Ben-Adir), the father of her unborn child, had been killed in a car explosion.
Ben, a British military officer, had been targeted by Section D as he continued to feed information to the army from Tommy.
He never knew he was going to be a father and Ada (Sophie Rundle) admitted falling pregnant was a mistake.
Now the army intelligence officer is dead, will Ada have an abortion?
She has contemplated getting rid of a child before when she was pregnant with her first husband’s child.
