When she realises what’s happened, Mel – played by departing star Tamzin Outhwaite – is distraught at not being able to pay for Hunter’s funeral and angrily confronts Sharon.

Meanwhile, Phil tells Jay Brown to find someone else to arrange Hunter’s funeral after the teen killer shot Ben and held pregnant Louise at gunpoint.

Later, a cash-strapped Mel goes to speak to Jay about the funeral.

She asks him if they can scale it back, but she’s left mortified when Jay tells her he can no longer arrange the funeral.

Despite Phil’s meddling, Jay – played by Jamie Borthwick – eventually lets Mel into the funeral parlour to be with Hunter. Lisa Fowler finds her there and the pair take a fond trip down memory lane. Mel finds that Lisa’s support gives her strength.

When the day of the funeral arrives, Mel leans on Lisa for support. Over at the Mitchell house, Phil is adamant that no Mitchell will go near the funeral, which leaves Louise conflicted. What will she do?

Hunter was shot dead by armed police after holding most residents of the Square hostage in the Vic following Whitney Dean and Callum Highway’s doomed wedding.

Seeking revenge on Jack Branning, Hunter accidentally shot Ben, before using Louise as collateral to escape. But things backfired when Hunter shot Keanu Taylor, leading the police to shoot him.

This week fans will see Mel struggle as the enormity of her son’s actions hit home.
