Who is Brilliant Chang?

Episode four of Peaky Blinders series five saw Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) cut a deal with the Chinese.

The Labour MP agreed to transport Brilliant Chang’s drugs following a tense meeting at his pub, The Garrison.

History tells us Brilliant was a mastermind drug dealer, who was dubbed the "Dope King" of London, due to his expertise in the field.

As well as selling narcotics, he was also a Chinese restaurateur and is believed to have been involved in the death of Freda Kempton.

He was linked to the dancer, who died from an overdose of cocaine in 1922, in the days leading up to her death.

A friend of Freda’s, at the time, claimed Brilliant had drugged her, however, the court later found she had committed suicide, while temporarily insane.

Although the restaurateur was not charged with her death, the publicity from the inquest was fatal to his business.

In 1925 he was deported from Britain and is said to have later fled to Hong Kong but little is known about his later years in life.

Why does Tommy Shelby keep having visions?

Since Grace Burgess’ (Annabelle Wallis) passing Tommy has been having regular visions of his late wife, who died from a gun wound.

These hallucinations could be brought on by a number of reasons such as grief, opium – the drug he is taking – or even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), following his work in the army.

His family have encouraged him to seek professional help but he has failed to visit his doctor and continues to use drugs.

The use of narcotics is unlikely to help his current state of mind, as it seems to be making him a little paranoid too.

Tommy is convinced his cousin, Michael Gray (Finn Cole), is working against him and is making some very irrational decisions as of late.

Who was the MP giving Tommy Shelby dirty looks?

Once again the father-of-two gave a rousing speech in the House of Commons but much like before his words displeased a member of the house.

However, unlike last time when Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) became known to viewers for his distaste of the politician, this man is currently unknown.

All we know of the middle-aged man, who could be seen frowning as Tommy spoke to MPs, is that he is a chain-smoking politician too.

Perhaps viewers will learn more about him in a later episode, but as it stands there is not much to go by.
