Brad Pitt admits he spent 18 months in Alcoholics Anonymous after split with Angelina Jolie
BRAD Pitt has admitted that he spent a year and a half in Alcoholics Anonymous after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce.
Speaking to the New York Times, the superstar actor explained: "I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges.
"You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard.
"It was this safe space where there was little judgement, and therefore little judgement of yourself."
The Fight Club star, 55, added: "It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself."
Brad also revealed he'd turned to marijuana in the past, explaining: "In the 90s, all that attention really threw me.
"I really became a bit of a hermit and just bonged myself into oblivion."
Brad and Angelina shocked the world when they announced their plans to divorce in September 2016.
The couple filed for divorce in September 2016 following an incident on a plane when Brad allegedly clashed with son Maddox, 18.
The Hollywood couple then released a joint statement where they stated they'd agreed to settle their divorce in private.
Brad and Ange married in 2014 after 12 years together and share children Maddox, Pax and Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.
Pitt was previously married to Friends actress Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005.
