EastEnders spoilers: Jean Slater lies about her cancer treatment as she grows closer to Daniel
CANCER-stricken Jean Slater lies to her family about her operation in EastEnders next week as she grows tired of everyone making a fuss of her.
Jean – who’s suffering from ovarian cancer – is due in surgery, but she tells the rest of the Slaters that her op has been postponed.
But Jean’s new friend, Daniel Cook – who’s played by Adrian Edmonson in the BBC soap - sees through her lies and offers her his support.
Daniel’s efforts to distract Jean ahead of the operation fall flat, but she senses that Daniel isn’t his usual self.
She questions him as he leaves, but his deflection makes her suspicious.
As Jean – Gillian Wright - waits nervously, she’s relieved when Kat arrives and, realising how scared she is, Kat promises Jean she’s not alone.
Following her operation, Jean is delighted when Kat gets Stacey on the phone.
Daniel soon arrives to visit Jean, but she’s gutted when he shares some devastating news with her – his cancer has spread.
It was announced back in May that Young Ones star Adrian would be joining the cast for a guest stint.
Adrian has enjoyed an illustrious career in television and was a comedy heavyweight in the 80s and 90s, famous for his roles in The Young Ones and Bottom.
More recently, Adrian, who is married to comedy legend Jennifer Saunders, has taken on more diverse roles in numerous dramas including: Holby City, Bancroft and War and Peace.

Speaking about joining EastEnders, Adrian said: "There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in EastEnders - so I feel it’s a kind of tradition!
"The other two being Tom Watt (Lofty Holloway) and Paul Bradley (Nigel Bates)”.
Executive Producer Jon Sen added: "Adrian’s a phenomenal talent who will bring his unique blend of intelligence, warmth and humour to the role of Daniel.
"We’re all over the moon he’s coming to Walford and can’t wait for this love story to hit screens later this year."
