She recently moved out of the home they shared in North London and missed their landmark festival shows. The couple went public at the Brit Awards in 2017 but are believed to have been dating since 2015.

They were together throughout his heroin addiction and rehab stint two years ago.

Since deciding to end their relationship Gabby has been leaning on her pal Anais Gallagher, the daughter of Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher, for support.

A source said: “Matty is great when he’s on form but he isn’t the easiest person to be with and leads a very unconventional life.

“There has been a lot of strain on their relationship, not helped by him being on tour a lot this year.

“He parties a lot at home when he’s there and Gabby had just had enough. She doesn’t want to lead her life like that.”

A rep for the singer declined to comment.

The group released new song People last week in which he sings: “I’m just gonna get girls, food, gear. I don’t like going outside, so bring me everything here.”

He opened up about his battles with drugs, including heroin, last year and said that although Gabby was “incredibly wise and incredibly beautiful” he had “still risked it” despite knowing how much he had to lose.

Then the group, who have gone to No1 with all three of their albums, will release their fourth collection, Notes On A Conditional Form, in February.

Ed's Bond bid

DUA Lipa and George Ezra have both been rumoured to be recording the theme for upcoming James Bond film No Time To Die, but there’s one superstar still holding out hope.

Ed Sheeran’s manager has confirmed he is so desperate to land the job that he has already started working on a theme in case the call comes. And this is despite announcing he is taking time out of the industry.

Stuart Camp, who has overseen Ed’s rise to fame, revealed they had a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli in 2017 but no decision was made.

He said: “We met Barbara when we played Dublin and they were interested. Danny Boyle was attached to the film after that. He made Yesterday (which Ed starred in), so there was a close connection there.”

Despite a change of directors to Cary Joji Fukunaga, Ed is still hopeful he will get to record the song, following in the footsteps of Sam Smith and Adele.

Stuart added: “Ed asks me about it every day. And I say, ‘The thing they do last is the music’. Those stories that said he’s Daniel Craig’s favourite act and it’s all happening aren’t true. It’s certainly something he’d want to do though. It’s a box that’s still to be ticked.”

The film is due in cinemas on April 3 next year, so bosses will have to move fast to get a star locked down. But now he’s on a break, Ed should have plenty of time to make a cracker.
