BAKE Off viewers were tonight sad to see Dan Chambers first to go on the show.
But in turn fans were also backing the hapless Jamie Finn to win - despite him forgetting to put eggs in his sponge cake.
Bearded baker Dan failed to impress the judges with his pirate showstopper and served his first and last piece of cake on tonight's premiere episode.
Sandi had the job of telling Dan that he would be leaving the tent.
He took it well and said: "I had a bad week, but I will definitely take away the friendships. I am not going to miss the baking under pressure – I’m just going to miss everyone in that tent."
Paul said: "He is a great baker Dan, but unfortunately it all boiled down to his signature bake, and that was the cause of him going."
Fans took to Twitter to share their sadness at him going.
One said: "Dan didn’t deserve to go!! :( gutted. #bakeoff"
Another tweeted: "Poor Dan! #BakeOff #GBBO
While this one said: "Gutted Dan's gone so soon. #bakeoff"
Elsewhere though and people were LOVING Jamie - who was a lovable disaster from start to finish.
Things did not go well for Jamie, but he won over the viewers with his hilarious gaffs which included forgetting to put eggs in one of his cake mixes.
He also had a terrible time with the Technical Challenge and came out bottom out of the 13 bakers for his attempt at Prue Leith's's angel cake slices.
But this hasn't stopped viewers rooting for him to win, with one tweeting: "Jamie to win #GBBO absolutely love him! @Channel4 #bakeoff."
Another said: "Jamie is already my favourite #bakeoff."
The show is well known for its saucy puns and this evening didn't disappoint, with mentions of a "furry garden" and a reference to Paul Hollywood's "snake".
The first episode got off to a great start, with some soggy bottoms and also some showstoppers.
But beside the glorious baked creations, it was the return of the naughty cake-based innuendos that got the viewers talking.
It all started when judge Paul was left red-faced after mishearing Helena Garcia, 40, call her “fairy garden” birthday cake a “furry garden”.
Blushing Spanish-born Helena, of Leeds, laughed: “Oh Paul, I know what you’re thinking.”
Paul 53, admitted his mistake, and then asked: “How big is your . . . erm . . . fairy garden?”
This had the studio (and viewers) dissolve into giggles, especially when fellow judge Prue, 79, said it was “more like a fairy mountain”.
But the naughtiness in the white tent didn't stop there.
Later David Atherton, 36, revealed he was making a snake cake, for the Showstopper Challenge - which this week was to be a "birthday cake of your childhood dreams".
More on Bake Off
While talking to David about his reptile inspired cake, Paul revealed he used to have “a slowworm” when he was a kid – this promoted a lovely bit of innuendo from host Noel Fielding, 46, who said: “Some of us have snakes, some of us have worms Paul” – cheeky!
There was also a bit of sauciness when Essex trucker Phil Thorne, 56, looked as if he is performing a sex act as he piped icing on his rocket-shaped cake.
- Bake Off returns to Channel 4 next Tuesday (September 3) at 8pm
