What does ‘brassic’ mean and how did the term inspire the Sky series?
BRASSIC is Sky 1's much loved comedy series starring former Coronation Street favourite Michelle Keegan.
The second series kicks off TONIGHT (May 7) on Sky 1 at 10pm - but what does 'brassic' mean?

What does Brassic mean?
Brassic is defined as someone who is broke, without means or penniless.
And the Sky 1 drama couldn’t have come up with a better name.
We know that Brassic is primarily focused on Vinnie and his friends, who commit crimes in order to stay afloat, which has seen them steal everything from cars to - wait for it - ponies!
The character's 'brassic' lifestyles causes some tension in the series.
Vinnie’s close friend Dylan (played by Damien Molony) is forced to make a big decision after his girlfriend Erin (Michelle Keegan) is desperate to leave town.

She wants her boyfriend to finally give up his crime ways and start a new life for himself, but in doing so, it would mean that he would also be cutting ties with Vinnie.
None of the main characters in Brassic live a life of leisure - in fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Erin wants to encourage her boyfriend to move away and start a new beginning; she knows there’s more to life than stealing and committing crimes.
It shouldn’t be forgotten, however, that this show is still a comedy, so expect plenty of laughter despite the dark underlying themes.
Michelle Keegan told after the first series that is was the “craziest job” she’s ever had.

She said: “I knew I wanted to be in it as soon as I read the script. It’s very rare that I laugh out loud but I did with this.
“I did a bit of comedy on the series Plebs, but it was only one episode and it was something I wanted to do more of.
“I’m also a big fan of Danny Brocklehurst, who helped write the series with Joe and who also wrote Ordinary Lies that I was in a few years ago.
“Joe, who’s sprinkled his amazing uniqueness on it, and Danny, have created something really special together and I can honestly say there’s nothing else like it on TV.”

When is Brassic on next?
The new series will begin TONIGHT at 10pm on Sky 1.
There will be 6 episodes on series 2.
The third series has already been commissioned.
