The new trailer sees Clay get arrested for killing Bryce

So far, all that fans know is that the show's villain was shot dead - and the next 13 episodes will be an intense whodunnit.

In the new clip, which Netflix released yesterday, Clay is seen being confronted by the authorities - with his attorney mum Lainie stating: "The police think that you did [it]!".

Emotional Clay, played by Dylan Minnette, can also be seen tearfully exclaiming: "This whole f***ing world is better without him in it", showing zero remorse for Bryce's murder.

Although the trailer is pointing to Clay as the main suspect, fans believe that this is a red herring - and are adamant that he is innocent.

Another speculated: "Clay is getting framed, but by who?"

A third said: "Despite the trailer pointing towards Clay, I'm 100% sure it wasn't him."

Others theorised what could have actually happened, with some even suggesting that Bryce took his own life in what will be a double bluff.

13 Reasons Why's first season premiered in 2017 and has faced fierce backlash for its inclusion of triggering scenes, such as suicide, heroin addiction, and rape.

Last month, Netflix was praised for finally deleting a graphic, three-minute long scene that showed series one protagonist Hannah Baker take her own life.
