George Michael’s family sell house he died in on Christmas Day for £3.4million
GEORGE Michael's former Oxfordshire home has sold for £3.4million, three years after the pop star died there on Christmas Day.
According to Land Registry documents, the 16th-century property located in Goring-on-Thames was bought by a couple last month.
The new tenants - who are said to be from the local area - moved into the cottage in the last two weeks.
Lawyer John Reid, who acts for George’s family and estate, asked for their privacy to be respected.
He told “We can confirm that we have now sold George’s former home in Goring-on-Thames.
“It was a place that he loved, not least for the privacy that it afforded him.
“We would therefore kindly ask that the new owners have their privacy respected and are able to enjoy the property as he did.”
The property was a popular spot for fans of the Wham! singer.
In 2004 the singer invited US TV star Oprah Winfrey for a tour around the house.
He said: “This is a 16th-century house that I bought about three years ago and did up myself.
“This is about as English and historical as you can get. We kept all the original beams. This fire place... is the original fireplace.”
News of the house sale comes shortly after The Sun Online revealed that George Michael's family were considering letting Fadi Fawaz stay in his £5million home as they feared he would spill the singer's secrets, despite being arrested amid amid allegations he smashed up parts of the mansion near London’s Regent’s Park.
Although the pair dated for four years, Fadi was snubbed from George's will.
