THIS Morning viewers praised Maura Higgins today as she gave no-nonsense relationship advice during her first day on the job - and told a woman to dump her boyfriend.
The Love Island runner-up landed the role just a week after leaving the villa – and fans think she has already mastered it.
The former ring girl kept her cool as she answered various viewer questions.
When one woman said she was worried things weren't working in her seven-year relationship, Maura told her to go on a break - and if that didn't work to ditch him.
She said: “I was actually in your situation, I was in a nine-year relationship, and to be honest, you kind of just get stuck in a rut, it becomes a routine, and you’re just with that person, you end up becoming their friend…’
“What I’d do is sit him down and maybe say to him, maybe it’d be a good time to go on a break, and see what he says, and it’s going to be scary because you’re thinking ‘oh God, you know what? What if we go on a break and he doesn’t want me after that?’”
She added: “Well, you know what? If he doesn’t, you deserve better, you can’t go on like that.”
Another caller wanted advise because she was in love with someone for 15 years and he didn't love her back.
Maura advised: “No, that’s not okay. This is really very hard because when you’re in love with someone you can’t see past that, but the only thing is to cut contact.
"You don’t want to spend the next 15 years in the same situation. Time is the best healer. And it is going to be hard, it’s not going to be easy. I’ve done it. You’ll cry and you’ll cry, but you will get over it.”
Someone else rang to discuss being broken up with via text and Maura suggested: “Don’t be contacting him. This is a really hard one, because you have no closure. Block that man! This actually happened to me over a phone call and it was the hardest thing to get over, but they will come running back if you cut all contact.
"He’s going to be thinking ‘I can have her whenever I want her’, but by then you’ll be over him, trust me!”
And on Maura’s final dilemma, when you fancy a friend, the Islander suggested: “Tell him. He might feel the same, but if he doesn’t do you really want to live with regret? Be honest. If they’re really good friends it won’t be awkward.”
During the phone-in, Eamonn asked Maura if she was a people pleaser and she replied: “There are so many people in the world who are afraid for people to get a bad opinion of them. Once your family, friends, your loved ones love you and know you and care about your opinion, that’s all that matters. It is none of your business.
"I have no interest. If someone is telling me a story that’s in the paper about me, I don’t want to hear it, because I don’t really care.”
Those watching at home were very impressed and took to Twitter to discuss it.
One person wrote: “Absolutely loving Maura on #ThisMorning she seems so confident and is doing amazing.”
Another added: “Maura giving advice on #thismorning is perfect.”
While some else remarked: “Actually love Maura on #ThisMorning shes so brutally honest genuinely love it.”
And someone else tweeted: “@MauraHiggins great to see you on @thismorning your so natural and down to earth. I love your honesty. Your a great addition to the team. I Hope you and @CurtisPritchard are happy and stay together. Your well suited.”
