Virgin Radio presenter Eddy Temple Morris tells Chris Evans Breakfast Show how Liam Gallagher helped him propose to his girlfriend by writing her a note on the train
VIRGIN Radio presenter Eddy Temple-Morris revealed that Liam Gallagher helped him propose to his girlfriend – by writing him a note.
The DJ said he ran into Liam on a train in the 90s and in exchange for cigarettes, the Oasis rocker penned him a sweet letter to help him ask his girlfriend to marry him.
Eddy was on the with Kate Lawler, Sam Pinkham and Tim Cocker to announce Virgin Radio’s new presenter line up.
Sharing their best showbiz stories, Kate talked about interviewing Liam Gallagher and how nervous she was – only for Eddy to tell his incredible story about the Oasis frontman.
“We have wind-back the clock to when we in the bosom of auntie Beeb in the mid-90s. I had a couple of wines and on my way to BBC Manchester with my assistant Hannah,” he said.
“On that ramp at Euston station to the Manchester train, there was this guy dressed like Liam and I started to take the mick, with doing an impression of Liam.

“And he turned around and smiled and it was Liam! My assistant was like: you have to meet and speak to him!
“He was incredibly nice he took all my cigarettes, that is when you could smoke on trains.
“He asked what can I do for you, as I have nicked all your cigarettes. So I asked can you propose to my girlfriend me, so he wrote her note, saying ‘Dear, marry Eddy, definitely, not maybe’.
“But he can't spell definitely! He was like I'm just a singer not a writer.”
Sadly, Eddy didn't reveal if the proposal worked - and claims that the note was actually stolen from him.
The foursome were on the show to introduce Virgin Radio’s new daytime line-up, which has Sam Pinkham on from 4am-6.30am, then Chris’s Breakfast Show, then Eddy on from 10am-1pm, Tim from 1pm-4pm and then Kate takes over for drivetime until 7pm.
Chris Evans, 53, hosts the much-loved radio show every weekday morning from 6.30am, as well as Sundays at 10am.
