Love Island winner Amber says she deserves to win because of her ‘journey’ and brands Michael weird for getting back with Joanna
LOVE Island winner Amber Gill has said she deserved to win the show because of her "journey" after being messed around by Michael Griffiths.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the 21-year-old also slammed Michael as "weird" for getting back with Joanna Chimonides.
Speaking in the aftermath of her victory with Greg O'Shea, she explained: "I think people could relate to the journey that I went on. A lot of girls could relate."
The 27-year-old firefighter swapped Amber for Joanna before trying to win her back when she got booted out of the villa.
But when we told her they were kissing and cuddling at a music festival at the weekend, she said: "Are they together? I'm surprised by that.
"I didn't see much of their relationship because I was avoiding it. But he definitely tried to come back to me so I think it's a bit weird."
Amber added that she wouldn't have won Love Island and collected the £50,000 prize if she had been with Michael instead of Greg.
She said: "Me and Greg were a good match and him coming in when I needed him was a strength. That was why it went to us.
"If I was with Michael, it would have just been: 'She went back to the guy that didn’t treat her well.'"
Amber added that she considered walking out when she returned from Casa Amor to find Michael coupled up with Joanna.
She said: "It was a hard situation watching an ex crack on with a new girl. But I thought I would regret it if I left and I know that I definitely would have regretted it."
Amber denied she and Greg had sex in the villa - and said they even managed to keep their clothes on when they came out last night.
The beautician said: "It is still only 13 days. We are both respectful, whether we are on camera or not on camera, it’s just how we carry ourselves as people."
She added: "I don’t believe in things like the Love Island curse. It’s going to be hard but we will definitely make it work."

Greg chimed in: "We will definitely stay together. I want her to meet the rest of my family and my friends. I want to see Newcastle and for her to see Dublin. I can't wait."
The 24-year-old shut down any prospect of them blowing their £50,000 prize fund, adding: "We'll maybe just get a little treat here and there and then probably invest it."
But Amber added: "I will definitely get at least one designer item."
