NATALIE Portman has been announced as the first female Thor as she waved a huge hammer on stage at Comic Con.
The Black Swan actress is set to make her comeback to the Marvel movie franchise as the first female god of thunder.
Oscar winner Natalie, 37, hammed it up as her new role was announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
She looked stunning in a floral bodice with a floaty taffeta skirt as she was brought on stage by director Taika Waititi.
The actress, who has been in the Thor films before playing Jane Foster, will make her comeback in Thor 4: Love And Thunder, but this time with a meatier role.
Her last performance was in Thor’s second instalment, 2013’s Dark World.
Fans were delighted with the news and went on Twitter to share their joy.
One wrote: "OmG I'll see it. I always liked Natalie Portman since seeing her in Star Wars movies when I was a kid. She will be an amazing female Thor."
A second wrote: "Natalie Portman is back."
A third wrote: "With thunderous applause."
