Harry Styles in talks to play Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid for Disney’s live-action remake
HARRY Styles is in talks to play Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
The former One Direction star, 25, is being lined up to star alongside singer Halle Bailey, who recently landed the role of Ariel.
The film will be directed by Rob Marshall, and he's currently in negotiations with a string of stars to play leading roles.
Eric is a human prince who Ariel saves from drowning. She then makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula to exchange her voice for legs in order for a chance to make him love her.
Harry - who made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's 2017 World War II drama Dunkirk - was recently in talks talks to play Elvis in the new Baz Luhrmann movie biopic about the King Of Rock and Roll.
However, the role went to Austin Butler, 27.
The Little Mermaid film will feature songs from the 1989 animated classic – including favourites Under the Sea, Part of Your World and Kiss the Girl.
There will also be new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Melissa McCarthy is also in talks to star as the sea witch Ursula.
Halle has already built up an impressive CV and counts Beyonce and Halle Berry among her fans.

She began her career performing covers of pop songs on YouTube alongside Chloe.
The singer caught the eye of Beyonce after a cover of her hit Pretty Hurts went viral in 2013, earning the sisters, performing as Chloe X Halle, a record deal.
Their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, was released in April 2016 and that year they opened for Beyonce on the European leg of her Formation World Tour.
Fans were recently at war over Halle's casting in the upcoming film.
