Coronation Street’s Sam Robertson signs new big-money deal to stay on as Adam Barlow – months after almost quitting the show
CORRIE hunk Sam Robertson is all set to sign a new big-money contract - just weeks after he considered walking away from the show for good.
Sam, who has played sharp-suited solicitor Adam Barlow on and off since 2004, has often talked about how tough he finds the attention that comes from being in the ITV soap.
He even took more than two months out earlier this year to consider his future.
But friends have told The Sun how the sabbatical reinvigorated the actor - and convinced him his future lies on the cobbles.
Sam's change of heart is certainly good news for Corrie boss Iain McLeod.
He is understood to massively rate the 33-year-old Scot and has written him into a major summer romance with Sarah Platt [Tina O'Brien] - but had been facing a worrying exodus after seven big stars quit the show earlier this year.
One of Sam's pals said: "Everyone who goes on Corrie has to deal with some level of attention from fans, as it is ultimately part and parcel of being in such a major show.
"Some cope with it better than others, and Sam's never made a secret of the fact he doesn't cope with it very well.
"Things reached a head towards the end of the year when he was considering quitting, but the Corrie bosses allowed Sam more time off than they would usually, and it seemed to do the trick.
"Sam spent time with his friends and family, which gave him time to realise how much he was enjoying being in Corrie, and since coming back he's been a different man.

"He is really enjoying being given a more prominent role on the show, and is keen to sign on for another 12 months - which has been music to Iain McLeod's ears as he thinks Sam is brilliant.
"It sounds like it's just a matter of dotting the is and crossing the Ts."
News of Sam's contract extension follows that of Samia Longchambon, who's played Maria Conner since May 2000, signing a new deal to keep her on the street for another year.
Samia pledging her future has been a boost after seven other stars announced they were off.
Kim Marsh (Michelle Connor), Faye Brookes (Kate Connor), Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker), Tristan Gemmill (Robert Preston), Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), Bhavna Limbachia (Rana Habeeb), and Connie Hyde (Gina Seddon) quit In the space of three months earlier this year.
