Towie stars furious as younger cast are excluded from show’s 10 year reunion
TOWIE cast members have had their nose put out of joint after being snubbed from the show's 10 year reunion celebrations.
The younger stars of the Essex reality show are furious with the show's bosses after the likes of Mark Wright, Lydia Bright and Amy Childs have been included in plans - leaving the current members out in the cold.
A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “The younger cast members know it is happening but they haven’t been included in any talks. Execs are looking at it like a school reunion and want to get the class of 2011 back together for fans as they were and still are so popular.
“But Towie’s decade of success hasn’t been all down to them and there are newer stars that have put their heart and soul into the show.
“The feeling on set is that they would like to be involved in marking the anniversary and have a celebration too, since they are the ones turning up to work every day!”
The Sun Online revealed last month how ITV bosses were in talks with the original cast members for a one-off special to mark the show's anniversary.
A TV insider said: “Towie’s ten years anniversary is coming up next year and bosses want to mark it in some way.
“It been a cultural phenomenon really and some of the original cast members have gone down in reality TV history.
The first series of the show aired on 10 October 2010 and the love triangle between Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger, and Lucy Mecklenburgh was at the centre of the drama.
It also featured Harry Derbidge, Lydia Bright, James Argent, Kirk Norcross, Sam and Billie Faiers, Lauren Pope and Maria Fowler.
Last week, Billie Faiers’ husband Greg claimed Mark Wright would be returning for the reunion special.
Greg and Billie were quizzed by over the reunion, but while she claimed not to "know much about it", he wasn't so tight-lipped.
