Peter Crouch ‘lands £30k payday to play Rodney Trotter lookalike in new TV ad’
PETER Crouch is in line for a bumper payday after signing a deal to play Only Fools And Horses legend Rodney Trotter in a new TV advert, according to reports.
The former England ace, 38, previously admitted to being "haunted" by a pic of him dressed as the iconic sitcom character, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, when he was 19.
But it appears 6ft 7in Peter finally managed to move on and is happy to pose as Rodney for retail app Beanser in a £30,000 deal.
A source told : “The plan is for doubles of Del Boy, Uncle Albert, Boycie and Marlene in the ad, due out at the end of the year.”
Meanwhile, a source told us: "The advert will be shot in early September and the makers of the film are aiming to use Peter."
Acting icon Sir David Jason is also said to be backing the ad.
A representative for Peter declined to comment.
The striker has carved out a successful career off the pitch with an award-winning autobiography How To Be A Footballer and podcast That Peter Crouch Podcast as well as regular telly appearances.
Last month Peter and wife Abbey Clancy welcomed their fourth child, with the footballer joking he was called Divock Samrat Crouch – after the Liverpool player and their favourite curry house.
Speaking on his podcast, the 38-year-old said: “He might get bullied if his name is Divock. I had to actually come out and say his name isn't actually Divock Samrat - that was a gag.
“To me Divock was a lovely name. Abs said to me: 'you've got to tweet it, its brilliant.' I cant think of one (celeb who has announced fake name).
“We were looking at him the other day, he's so beautiful and innocent and Divock seemed like a good name for it. I feel like its sort of stuck a bit. Whatever we go for now is not going to live up to Divock Samrat.”
Divock Origi scored the final goal for the Reds in the cup clash in Madrid. Samrat is the name of an Indian restaurant they frequent.
Following the birth the smitten model shared a series of pictures of the newborn alongside husband Peter and their son Johnny, one – declaring she was the “luckiest girl alive”.
She wrote: “My 3 boys feeling like the luckiest girl alive right now.”
Former Strictly winner Abbey - who also has daughters Sophia, eight, and Liberty, four – posted other images of the family getting to know the new arrival.
