Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor reaches out to half-sister Kate over Rana Habeeb’s death TONIGHT in hour long episode
THERE are some emotional scenes in Coronation Street tonight when fragile Carla Connor pays a visit to her grieving half-sister, Kate.
The former factory owner – who has recently returned to the cobbles after a stay in a psychiatric unit – tentatively approaches Kate and tells her how sorry she is about the tragedy that killed her fiancée, Rana Habeeb.
Kate – played by Faye Brookes in the ITV soap – listens as Carla tells her how much she wishes she’d heeded Gary Windass’ warning about the roof, before dissolving into tears.
Could this be the beginning of the sisters repairing their fractured relationship?
Corrie fans know that the factory roof collapsed earlier this year, leaving Rana dead.
Carla – Alison King – has blamed herself for the tragedy ever since, given that Gary had warned her that the roof needed replacing.
Stressed and unable to afford a total replacement, Carla told him to patch it up in the meantime.
Unknown to Carla – or anyone else on the cobbles – Gary actually tampered with the roof himself, hoping to get himself more work as he was struggling to keep loan shark Rick Neelan at bay.
Gary – Mikey North – was revealed as the culprit in May after weeks of speculation about who the mystery fiddler on the roof could have been.
Following Rana’s death, Kate was furious with Carla, holding her responsible and even reporting her to the police.
Carla was unable to cope with the stress and suffered a harrowing breakdown, which culminated in her seeing a hallucination of dead Rana – with actress Bhavna Limbachia making a surprise return.
She’s been in hospital in Carlisle having treatment for the past few weeks and made her comeback on Wednesday night.
So with Carla no longer part of Underworld, what is she going to do with her time?
Her partner, Peter Barlow, has an idea and approaches Carla’s close friend Michelle Connor asking if she can find a few shifts at the Bistro for her as it would be a welcome distraction.
When Michelle reveals she’s going to be helping Alya Nazir with an event and that she could use some help at the Bistro while she’s away, Carla agrees to step in.
With Bistro owners Michelle and Robert Preston both leaving Weatherfield later this year, could Carla find herself swapping knickers and bras for starters and mains?
