EMMERDALE'S Lydia Hart has been revealed as the mother of the dead baby that was found buried in the grounds of the village school.
Tonight's episode ended with the Dingle's talking about the discovery and Lydia looking guilty.
This evening saw the police confirming that the bones belonged to a baby and that the mother was a 16-year-old girl named Jenny Finn and, by the end of the episode, the soap also revealed that 'Jenny' is actually a young Lydia confirming viewers' theories that Lydia is the villager at the centre of the mystery.
Her big secret was rumbled at the end of the show's double bill as Sam Dingle broke the news about the bones belonging to a baby and Lydia could be seen looking distressed.
The scene then cut to the police station, where they'd managed to find a photo of their top suspect, Jenny Finn.
The detective said: "Jennifer Finn, went missing from Hotten Grange Children's Home November 1990.
"From what forensics have said about how long this kid's been in the ground, she's our most likely candidate for the mother.
"Have it copied for tomorrow's press conference. Let's see if we can't track this woman down, see why she's done a runner."
Fans were beside themselves with this news.
One tweeted: "OMG...... Lydia!!!? #Emmerdale"
This one said: "OMG so Lydia's really Jenny Finn? Why the name change though? #Emmerdale"
