From Hollywood royalty to singing superstars – these are the women that have sparked David Beckham’s playing away rumours
IT was love at first sight for David and Victoria. But that has not stopped rumours over his close female friends from dogging them over the years.
Here are the subs who are rumoured to have sat on David’s bench . . .
Rebecca Loos
VICTORIA and David had been married almost five years when Rebecca claimed she'd had a sexual affair with the England skipper.
His former PA, who at 42 is three years younger than Victoria, claimed David had been lonely in Madrid without his family and that they had sex six or seven times.
David called the affair claim “ludicrous” and Posh stood by him.
Charlize Theron
IN 2010 rumours swirled that David and actress Charlize, 43, were more than pals.
They were first seen together in Cape Town at the World Cup draw in 2009.
After that they both turned up to a basketball game in Los Angeles wearing identical outfits — a plaid shirt and faded jeans.
Poppy Delevingne
AFTER the 2017 Brits David was seen partying with married model Poppy, 33, before they left a bar together in the early hours.
Mary Charteris
THE same year, David’s “close friendship” with socialite Lady Mary, 32, was said to have left Posh fuming.
Mary was previously linked to Kate Moss’s split from husband Jamie Hince.
Kate was said to be so angry at Mary’s flirting that she pushed the socialite into a pool.
Rita Ora
DAVID and Victoria were very firmly together on the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards in December 2018.
But onlookers at the bash claimed they hardly spoke, with David instead paying attention to singer Rita, 28.
We reported earlier this year how Rita had a fling with their son Brooklyn when she was 26 and he was 18.
Friends said that Victoria was less than impressed by their closeness.
Bella Hadid
DAVID and model Bella were first pictured meeting at the Parc de Prince stadium in Paris as they watched Real Madrid play in March last year.
Bella, 22, shared jokes with David and was even seen caressing his shoulder as they watched the game.
But they looked stiff and awkward when they were pictured sitting next to each other six months later at the Dior Homme fashion show in Japan.
Helena Christensen
THE 50-year-old Danish model reportedly became pals with David when they partied together in Miami in December last year.
She posted the word “Ballin” on Instagram next to a picture of the two of them together.
David and Helena partied at an Adidas and British Fashion Council bash which the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star hosted. He was joined by best pal Dave Gardner, and also posed with celebrities including singers Marc Anthony and Pharrell Williams.
Helena is a close friend of Dave Gardner and his actress wife Liv Tyler, and the group often socialise in the south of France.
Brand Beckham is a huge success story, said to be worth £355million, due to their careful crafting of the image.
But there are times when things have gone badly wrong. Here we look at some of the rare PR own goals.
Goldenballs
David hit a crisis in England’s 1998 World Cup campaign when he was sent off for kicking out at Argentina’s Diego Simeone.
England were left with ten men and lost the game on penalties without Beckham there to score.
With England out, the finger of blame was pointed at Beckham, then 23, with fans accusing him of being unable to control his temper. Effigies of him were burned at pubs, death threats were made and years of abuse followed. He redeemed himself with hard work on the pitch and in 2008 Victoria revealed her nickname for him, based on his ability to turn things around.
She said: “I call him Goldenballs now,” before adding: “That’s one of those things I shouldn’t have said!” as David held his head in his hands.
Tattoos
David started getting tattoos after Brooklyn was born. He now has more than 50.
Victoria also had several tattoos, including a Hebrew tribute to David which starts at her neck and trails down her spine and means “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”.
But fans have noticed her tattoos are fading with some saying it is evidence of a rift between them.
Knighthood
David’s cynical attempts to use his charity work to earn a knighthood were revealed when emails were hacked in 2017.
In one he called the Honours Committee “unappreciative c***s” and dismissed lower awards, ranting: “Unless it’s a knighthood, f*** off”.
He also called opera singer Katherine Jenkins’s OBE a “f***ing joke”. Later he told pals he was extremely disappointed not to have got a knighthood.
