, 60, is an American musician, born in Kennett, Missouri on February 11, 1962.

After successfully graduating from the University of Missouri, Sheryl became a music teacher at an elementary school in Fenton, Missouri.

She was teaching school all day, then singing in bars at night, when she met producer Jay Oliver.

Oliver had a production studio in the basement of his parents' home, where the two created jingles for a few local commercials together.

In 1992, the singer was on the verge of releasing her debut album before she decided not to.

She reportedly told friends at the time that she didn’t feel the record represented her correctly, saying songs came off as being “too produced” and “slick."

The album’s release date, September 22, 1992, was consequently canceled by her record label at the time.
