Coronation Street’s Carla Connor returns to the cobbles after intense treatment for psychosis
CORRIE’S Carla Connor will be making her return to the street after months fighting her demons and suffering a psychotic breakdown, which resulted in her being sectioned.
The Underworld boss has been at a treatment facility in Carlisle receiving medical help but is due to make a tentative come back to her family, friends and business.
Carla - who is played by actress Alison King in the ITV soap - has been pictured in new images from the soap looking healthier than she has in a long time.
Although the Corrie veteran still appears fragile, Carla is back home in Wetherfield with partner Peter Barlow.
The ITV soap shared an image of Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) announcing to the factory staff that their boss will soon be back.
It’s unsure how everyone will react and Carla is seen sitting on a chair in her beloved business, with an anxious Peter standing over her.
After the collapse of the roof, which caused the death of Rana Habeeb on her wedding day, Carla’s guilt and grief led her to suffer a breakdown.
Fighting an ongoing battle with psychosis, she even had visions of Rana in a red coat as she struggled to determine what was real and what wasn’t.
And now as Carla’s treatment come to an end, she is about to tentatively return home for the first time since it happened.
Carla will arrive back on the Street next week on Wednesday 3rd July, with a supportive but nervous Peter by her side.
He is concerned she is returning too soon and panics that she will take on too much and put her recovery at stake – but how fragile is Carla and is she still on the edge of snapping once more?
Viewers know Gary Windass is actually responsible for the collapse and for Rana's death, but the residents of Weatherfield aren't aware of that.
The Sun Online exclusively revealed earlier this month she is desperate to make amends after everything.
A source told us: "It's going to be a long road to recovery for Carla after all she's been through.
"She returns to Weatherfield terrified of the reaction she will get and is desperate to try and make up for everything that has happened.
"She blames herself for the state the factory is in and takes drastic action to win back the trust of her team."
