BIGGER BANG

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson vows to defy bosses if they plan for Breda McQueen to kill Ste Hay

HOLLYOAKS star Kieron Richardson has vowed to defy soap bosses if they ever try to kill him off by using Breda McQueen.

The award-winning actor - who plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap - has admitted he has no plans to let Ste become the latest victim of serial killer Breda McQueen.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online's Soap Bubble, Kieron said: "Listen, I've thought this for quite a few times, thinking if Breda's killing bad dads in Hollyoaks, I should be the one that's raising the biggest flag like, 'Come and pick me!'

"But I've been in this show a long time so there's no way I'm getting my head taken off with a brick by Breda.

"I'm going out with a bigger bang than that! I think it's a brilliant storyline what they're doing with the Breda one, but yeah it's one of those things isn't it, whenever you have a big stunt, it's like oh am I in the stunt this year, hope not.

"But that's the message at the minute, am I a bad dad, I don't want to get killed by Breda.

"I wouldn't let it happen, I'd be like, 'Nah you're not killing me!'"

The actor and the soap - which won Best Soap at this year's British Soap Awards earlier this month - have won rave reviews for tackling an extremism storyline.

Ste has been groomed by a group of far right activists who think by winning a white, good looking gay man to their cause that they can use him to legitimise their racist plans.

But while Breda McQueen has been actively killing men in the village, Kieron reckons she's not the most dangerous person there - that honour goes jointly to far right thugs Stuart and Jonny - and Ste is in danger at their mercy.

Kieron added: "[He's] massively in danger. Stuart and Jonny have literally taken his family away from him, potentially get his kids taken off of him after what he's done this week.

"Stuart's a very dangerous guy, obviously Hollyoaks is renowned for having serial killers and murderers but I'd say the most two dangerous men in the village in a long time are Jonny and Stuart."

This week viewers watched as Ste's grooming was completed as Stuart set him up with a fake undercover police officer to test his loyalty, and then when he passed their sick test, inducted him into the group with their racist imagery tattooed on his arm.

But Kieron has revealed how Stuart and Jonny could have bitten off more than they can chew with Ste with his history of reacting extremely to most things.

He added: "Sometimes Stuart and Jonny are actually taken a back, Ste's personality is that he can fly off the handle quite quickly, but he's also so vulnerable and susceptible to having people getting into his head, that he's easy to manipulate, but also he's a bit hot headed, he can mess it up for them by saying the wrong thing or his actions do silly things."

And when Ste begins to grow closer to his ex husband Harry again, Stuart and Jonny are going to be forced to take drastic action as it looks like Harry can cut through the racist noise they are making.

He said: "There's going to be some scenes coming up with myself and Parry, and it's whether or not what Harry thinks of this new Ste, seeing as he hasn't seen him for a while.

"Harry might be getting in the way of Stuart and Jonny's plans so they might do a bit of a blind date."

And Kieron also hinted that the ending for this storyline would be explosive enough to see the soap win Best Soap at next year's British Soap Awards.

He said: "There's a lot more of this story, it has been a long process, it's so cliche to say, but there's a journey with it, it's a long time to get to the end goal.

"I know the ending, and hopefully people will be happy with it.

"The ending will hopefully be the start of our journey to winning best soap next year too."

* Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm with a first look episode following at 7pm on E4
