Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is in the running for a leading role in the new Star Wars trilogy
MILLIE Bobby Brown is used to giving an out-of-this-world performance on screen — and she could soon be doing it again.
The Stranger Things actress is in the running for a lead role in the new Star Wars trilogy, which would cement her status as one of the most promising young stars in the business.
I hear her dad Robert, who helps guide her career, has been courting film-maker Kathleen Kennedy and Disney executives.
Casting for the series — expected to start filming next summer — has already begun.
And Disney insiders say the trilogy, being worked on by Game Of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, will be female-oriented.
An insider said: “Millie sees the new Star Wars franchise as her best opportunity to get her dream job. She loves the sci-fi series so much and feels that her knowledge and adoration for the movies give her an edge.
“Her dad too knows how much the films mean to his daughter.
“He has been working with her reps to get her in front of Disney’s creative teams and especially Kathleen Kennedy.
“Kathleen is one of the key visionaries for the movies and Millie has come across her in Hollywood circles. The casting process is already up and running, because they need long-term commitments from the performers to run through the five-year project.”
Millie won critical acclaim for her Netflix role as Eleven in Stranger Things, which returns for a third series on July 4.
The actress, who was raised between Bournemouth and Florida, previously said of Princess Leia: “I would love a role like that. Because I want to do something far from Eleven.”
This role would be in a galaxy far, far away from Eleven.

It's lumping Jack Flash
ROLLING Stones rocker Brian Jones had to quit in 1969 after becoming too FAT, according to the rockers’ former video director.
Michael Lindsay-Hogg says: “If you look at him from 1964-1965 in the TV clips, he was a very handsome guy with this wonderful golden bowl haircut.
“But he became weakened by alcohol and drugs, and a little pudgy. I have a belief the Rolling Stones have a contract that if any of them ever weighs more than 150lb he has to quit the group.”
Luckily the four remaining band members – Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Woods and Charlie Watts – are well under that mark.
Mick is busy keeping fit after heart surgery in April – he hit the dancefloor at gay night Horse Meat Disco with daughter Jade over the weekend.
DJ Luke Howard tweeted that he had played for the pair as part of her husband Adrian Fillary’s birthday.
He posted: “Mick was up and dancing.”
Then home for a green juice and bed, no doubt.
L Dev's home and dry
L Devine was discovered while busking with Brit award winner Sam Fender.
But with fame and fortune beckoning, she had just one demand when approached by Warner Music: A tumble dryer.
The North Tyneside singer said: “If I’m trying to be a pop star, I don’t have to wait two days for my jeans to dry.”
Hit Naked Alone was inspired by leaving home. She said: “I was lonely. I decided to turn those feelings into a sexy anthem for loners.”
Lew's duet is on the Boyle
REMEMBER the name LewBo – it could be the next musical superpower after Susan Boyle agreed to team up with fellow Scot Lewis Capaldi.
Britain’s Got Talent legend Susan reached out to the musician after he called her “the pinnacle” and told The Sun “a duet would be fun”.
She tweeted: “Right, Mr Capaldi, less of your peely-wally (pale, sickly look). Let’s discuss that supergroup.”
Susan’s 2009 album I Dreamed A Dream has shifted 411,820 copies – the fastest-selling UK debut in history.
Last week Lewis’s album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was the biggest debut of the year, selling 89,506 copies and going straight to No1.

Epic biopic
BOY George is to get a movie biopic – following the success of the Freddie Mercury and Elton Johnfilms.
The Boy George flick, written and directed by Sacha Gervasi, will follow him from his childhood in Ireland, through his Eighties pomp as Culture Club frontman and the later solo years.
He has sold more than 50million albums and 100million singles in a glittering career spanning almost four decades.
Last year’s Freddie Mercury film made more than £700million, while Elton movie Rocketman exploded on to the big screen this month.
