Coronation Street spoilers: Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown are floored as they learn they’re expecting quads
The pair will welcome their four children in December this year
CORONATION Street's Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown are left floored when they're told they’re expecting quads.
The mum-to-be is rushed to hospital after collapsing in dramatic scenes to air this week.
It's then she's told the couple's lives will change forever when they find out they've got four children on the way.
Poor Gemma - who’s played by Dolly-Rose Campbell in the ITV soap - is really suffering with morning sickness as the week begins and Ches, along with Rita Tanner, pleads with her to see a doctor. Stubborn Gemma refuses, telling them she’ll be fine.
But when her sickness becomes so severe she collapses, Ches – Sam Aston - decides that enough is enough and takes her to hospital.
When they get there, they’re told that Gemma will need a scan to check everything with the baby is okay and Gemma jokingly reminds Ches that there’s a history of twins in her family.
But the pair get a double shock when the sonographer discovers that Gemma is actually carrying four babies.
Gemma and Chesney are totally stunned by the news and, as it sinks in, they’re handed lots of information about multiple births and the options they have available to them.
A specialist talks to them about selective termination but Gemma and Chesney both agree that they couldn’t do this and want to give all four babies a chance.
Later, Gemma tells Rita – Corrie legend Barbara Knox - her news and is gutted when a reluctant Rita tells her that her flat isn’t big enough for Gemma and her brood.
She also sadly tells Gemma that she’s far too old to cope with four newborns under her roof.
The reality of their situation hits home for Ches and Gemma and Ches tells her she should move back into No.5.
Gemma isn’t keen after the disastrous mess she made of things when she last lived with Ches.
Elsewhere Jenny Connor starts a collection at the pub to support Gemma and Ches in their plight to afford four babies.
The Sun Online revealed back in January that unlucky-in-love Chesney would father quadruplets with kebab shop worker Gemma.
A Corrie source said at the time: “The show’s new boss, Iain MacLeod, is keen to inject a bit of old-fashioned humour into Coronation Street like in the years gone by and this storyline will have viewers in stitches.
“Gemma doesn’t miss a trick and instantly thinks of ways she can make some dosh out of her and Chesney’s unexpected news.”
